Allison Tant is the Chairwoman of the Florida Democratic Party, installed by Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the Florida Democratic establishment. She claims to be a fighter for the values of Florida’s middle-class families, though she doesn’t believe they should be able to keep more of their own money and doesn’t support budgets that include record state-based funding for education.
She was supported in her race for Chair by the Florida Democratic elite because of her fundraising prowess, having been a top bundler for President Obama’s reelection and other Democratic causes. But upon taking office, she realized that it is difficult to support a party that has no positive agenda and a platform that simply opposes Governor Scott’s successes, which include bringing 365,000 new private-sector jobs to the state, increasing education funding, and cutting state debt by $3.5 billion.
A graduate of Florida State University, Tant lives in Tallahassee. In her free time, she enjoys haphazardly vetting potential candidates for statewide office and firing staffers disloyal to her cause.
